Mini China MBA
 
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
 
 
1.
The program is anchored by Ms Foong Wai Fong, Director and Founder of Megatrends Asia, a noted China expert based in Shanghai. Ms Foong provides the directions for the course design and framework for this Mini China MBA. Ms Foong’s work on China, published with John Naisbitt in the best-selling Megatrends Asia has helped the world understand the rise of China. Her best-selling “Culture Is Good Business” again outlined key trends in the economic transformation of the region and the world and has influenced economic policy making in the region. Ms Foong will lead and moderate key seminars in this program and provide much of the interpretation of the trends in China for the participants, supported by a faculty member who is well versed with conditions in Malaysia and China.

Distinguished speakers from China including successful managers and business leaders. A number of China’s leading entrepreneurs anchors our program including Mr. Xu Yuan, President of Little Swan, Dato PY Lai, former President of Motorola China, country heads of Multinationals in China.

The Rise of Master Kang Noodles - How a new brand in instant noodle was created in China in the last decade and have moved on top position in China’s home market.
Bosideng down winter jacket - How a farmer-tailor has created and led a small backyard operation to the No 1 leader in winter clothing. Bosideng commands more than 50% of the Chinese market, accounting for 30million out of e 50 million down jackets sold.
Little Swan White Goods - How a state-owned enterprise has been transformed into a private global company that commands 6% of global market share.
Jujubee tree vegetarian restaurant - From very humble beginnings, how the Jujubee restaurant has become Shanghai’s leader in healthy living. Jujubee is also pioneering a new management and business model in the China market. A panel discussion will also include executives from Parkson, Bread Story and Phoenix Food.

China leading Telecom Company; how this Telco is taking China into a new telecommunication age with the largest network of mobile phone users. China has between 350-500 mobile telephone users.
How The Three Gorges Dam is positioned to supply the energy needs of half of China.
The modernization of China’s railway and the building of highways as well as a study of the second tier cities that are becoming the robust new urban centers in addition to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
5. Understand the dynamics of doing business in China and how to deal with the Chinese.
 
Understanding the mindset of the Chinese including a study on how to deal with bureaucrats and Chinese employees
How to negotiate in China, how to work with the Chinese to build a win-win partnership
How to market in China; the dynamics of selling to the Chinese consumer.
What form of business organization structure and site selection for services and manufacturing businesses? The program will help participants to understand the regional differences in China as reflected by character and culture of its leaders and business people.
6.
Networking opportunities with Chinese local entrepreneurs and business leaders as well as the executives from the international business community. Throughout the trip, Chinese entrepreneurs and leaders will be invited to join the visiting group of participants to facilitate exchange and networking including meeting the local leadership of selected cities.

Cultural appreciation. Participants will be guided around cultural sites that includes Suzhou’s silk factory in Suzhou, the Watertown in Tongli and Zhouzhuang, the Bund in Shanghai, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Center, Liuligongfang Museum etc.
 
 
Also, participants will have the chance to indulge in Chinese regional cuisines and local delicacies such as Wuxi rib, braised knuckles and Shanghai xiaolongbao. Even the most refined palettes will be pleased by those specialties.

Beginning second Saturday of the following months, run for 10 days (Arrival and Check in on Saturday and departure/checkout on Saturday).

4 Intakes in a year January, April, Sept and November, 2007:
January 13-23, April 13-23, Sept13-23, November 16-26

Each intake group size up to 30 participants, teams of 6 members in one group, prior case work will be distributed.

A pre-departure preparatory full day seminar is compulsory. Registration and admission at least 2 months ahead of departure day for adequate preparation.
